An "Offset" is defined as an ongoing social or political issue, person, event, team or cause that represents one side of a polar opposite -- in other words "STOP" or "VOTE" what you are against such as a rivalry, cause, event, business, etc. Examples of these are:

Political:                Republican/Democrat, liberal/conservative, Obama/McCain, etc., such as OffsetObama, OffsetMcCain, OffsetLiberals, etc.  Supporters of one political candidate or camp can work to "Offset" the opposing candidate -- Obama supporters can join OffsetMcCain.com and take steps to thwart the efforts of OffsetObama.com, and vice versa. 

Sports:                  One of the most exciting OffsetX communities will be those based on the longstanding rivalries between major college football powers -- For example, Ohio State fans will compete fervently to offset Michigan fans – and vice versa – while UCLA and Notre Dame will each have the opportunity to offset USC, and so on.  Dedicated fans can even act to offset upcoming games on a weekly basis.

 Humanities:         Examples in the humanities arenas will include OffsetX communities such as OffsetCancer, OffsetHunger, OffsetObesity, etc - Again trying to STOP these social causes.  Being an active member represent an opportunity to take action against disease, social injustice, health-related issues and other social causes that will leave a positive “Offset footprint” across nearly every aspect of their lives.
